"Pseudo-MPEC" for ExoMars2
In addition to the observations made by (Z22) MASTER, we now have observations made by Greg Roberts, kindly passed on to me and posted on the SeeSatL mailing list; and (as of 2016 July 12) four observations made from (Z58), the ESA's TBT observatory in Spain, just around the time of separation.
Greg provides some notes at the bottom of his post which are of interest. Greg has also provided an image of ExoMars and its booster :
Exposure 14 March 2016 start time 21h42m49.820s UT, exposure 15.000 seconds - time accurate to better than 50 milliseconds ( ccd camera shutter is GPS controlled). Telescope 102mm aperture f/5 SKYWATCHER refractor converted to a focal length of 323mm with a home made focal reducer so optical quality leaves a bit to be desired and some vignetting. Field of view 191.2 by 144.0 arc minutes. Image scale 13.81 arc seconds. Seeing was however about 22 arc seconds!!! - not the best. I've blown up the region of interest which shows the fainter main payload leading and followed by the brighter BRITZ rocket. The identifications were provided to me by ISON as they make use of my observations - they actually supplied the CCD camera and GPS system. The range at the time was about 27000 km .
You can get customized ephemerides for this object from the MPC's DASO Page, or from the JPL Horizons ephemeris server. (Click on "Target Body", then enter "ExoMars".) Note that there's some uncertainty with both sources. JPL's ephemerides are based on pre-launch expectations; the DASO ephems are based on the following astrometry, with uncertainties at least equal to those given in the 'sigma' column in the ephemerides, and possibly greater if the object has maneuvered at all. Further astrometry would be most welcome.
